New Leaf Blower Law
Now in effect, Hastings' new leaf blower law stipulates:
Gas-powered leaf blowers are legal ONLY from Oct 15-Dec 31
Electric leaf blowers are legal year-round
ONLY ONE leaf blower of any type may be used simultaneously on properties ½ acre or less
All commercial landscapers must be registered with the village and licensed by the county; registration is free
Homeowners using landscaping companies are subject to fines for their contractors’ non-compliance; fines start at $250

If you use a landscaper, be sure they understand the new law. Homeowners are now subject to fines when a landscapers commits violations on that homeowner's property. See below for tips to redirect reliance on leaf blowers toward more sustainable practices.
